Symbol, Intermec Reach Final IP Settlement

Law360 (July 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Data technology companies Intermec Inc. and Symbol Technologies Inc. on Tuesday resolved all outstanding intellectual property disputes stemming from last year’s intensive patent infringement battle.

The IP struggle has been watched closely by the world’s burgeoning retail outlets, since the technology at stake is positioned to change the way companies track products and capture data.

The settlement includes a cross-licensing agreement for technology covering automated identification and data capture (AIDC), as well as a four-year pact not to sue over remaining patents.
