Green Groups Push For Action On Gopher

Law360, New York (November 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Two environmental groups have asked a federal court to force the U.S. Department of the Interior to publish its findings on a petition they submitted 17 months ago seeking to name the Wyoming pocket gopher an endangered species.

The DOI's delay in releasing its initial substantial information finding on the request, lodged with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in August 2007, expressly violates the Endangered Species Act, the Center for Native Ecosystems and the Biodiversity Conservation Alliance said in a complaint filed on Tuesday in...
