Antitrust Scrutiny Intensifies In FY2007

Law360 (November 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission stepped up their antitrust efforts in 2007, revealing a spike in the number of premerger notification transactions during the past fiscal year.

On Thursday, the agencies unveiled the results of their 30th annual Hart-Scott-Rodino report, reassuring Congress that the 1976 legislation continues to give them critical power to ensure preliminary relief against anti-competitive mergers.
