Forest Service Wins Appeal In Bitterroot Suit

Law360 (November 7, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has handed the U.S. Forest Service a victory in a suit by environmental groups challenging a plan to reduce the risk of wildfires in the Bitterroot National Forest by thinning trees.

The appeals court on Thursday upheld a ruling by the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana granting the Forest Service summary judgment on all claims filed by the Wildwest Institute and Friends of the Bitterroot Inc.
