Allianz Settles Shareholder Suits Over RAS Merger

Law360, New York (July 19, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- German insurer Allianz AG has settled a lawsuit brought by shareholders who contested its merger with Italian insurer RAS Holding SpA and the company’s transformation into a European corporation.

The settlement, with 13 shareholders, calls for the withdrawal of all lawsuits by the plaintiffs in return for reimbursement by Allianz AG of their court costs and attorney fees.

All in all, each plaintiff will receive some €72,000 under the settlement, Allianz said.
