Law360, San Diego (February 24, 2016, 1:26 PM EST) -- As intellectual property attorneys face the prospect of another slow year with flat litigation demand and prosecution work under increased cost pressures, legal industry experts say market forces could drive more boutiques to combine with general practice firms and push some litigators to branch out from their IP roots.

IP litigation, like litigation in general, has remained relatively flat since 2012 in light of the America Invents Act shifting patent validity disputes away from district courts to the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and companies being more willing to settle patent litigation with nonpracticing entities, according to legal industry sources....
