Pregnancy Title VII Claims On The Rise: Study

Law360, New York (November 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The number of pregnancy discrimination claims made to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission jumped 65 percent between 1992 and 2007, a study has found.

Thirty years after the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, the National Partnership for Women & Families has released an analysis showing a rise in EEOC pregnancy-related Title VII claims over the 15-year period.

The report noted a particularly sharp jump in pregnancy discrimination reported by women of color in more recent years — with claims made by Hispanics increasing 135 percent between 1996...
