Orthopedic Company Antitrust Subpoena "Narrowed"

Law360, New York (July 21, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A spokesperson for one of several orthopedic companies under U.S. Department of Justice scrutiny for possible antitrust violations said Friday that the scope of the subpoena it received last month has been “narrowed.”

Spokesman Pat Anderson of Michigan-based Stryker Corp. declined to elaborate on what exactly “narrowed” means in practical terms, citing the ongoing status of the DOJ’s investigation.

Spokespeople for Zimmer Holdings Inc. and Biomet Inc.—who along with Stryker, announced that they had received DOJ subpoenas last month—wouldn’t say if they had received similar indications...
