Goldwater Institute Balks At Renewable Energy Rules

Law360, New York (November 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Goldwater Institute has launched a new assault on the Arizona Corporation Commission's measures to force electric utilities to glean some of their power from renewable sources, arguing that the agency “brazenly usurped” the state legislature's power by passing the measure.

On Wednesday, the Goldwater Institute revealed that it had filed a special action in the Arizona Court of Appeals, hoping to put a stop to the Renewable Energy Standard and Tariff Rules that were adopted by the commission in 2007.
