Cox Wants Review Of Market Volatility

Law360 (November 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox wants Congress to authorize a study that will thoroughly evaluate the reasons for the recent market volatility and will help lawmakers improve the nation's outdated framework for regulating the financial markets.

In a speech delivered Wednesday before a securities regulation conference, Cox urged Congress to authorize the financial resources necessary for the SEC to lead a top-to-bottom review of the regulatory structure that would go beyond the SEC's current analysis of real-time market information.
