Blank Check IPOs Cash In While Broader Market Flounders

Law360, New York (March 7, 2016, 4:47 PM EST) -- Even as the market for initial public offerings slumps, appetite for acquisitions remains robust, fueling interest in blank check companies that are going public at a steady clip despite a harsh fundraising environment, often backed by some of private equity's biggest names.

Capital markets attorneys say beaten down equities markets can work in favor of blank check companies, also known as special purpose acquisition companies, or SPACs, which are shell entities with no revenue, assets or liabilities formed specifically to hunt for bargain acquisitions.
