E-Verify Rule For Fed. Contractors Goes On The Books

Law360 (November 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s final rule requiring the use of E-Verify for federal contractors will be published in the Federal Register on Friday, despite protests about the program's potential lapses in accuracy and its costliness.

The rule, amending the Federal Acquisition Regulation to mandate the use of the employment eligibility system by government contractors and subcontractors, has been agreed on by the Civilian Agency Acquisition Council and the Defense Acquisition Regulations Council and will come into effect on Jan. 15.
