Army Corps Of Engineers' Everglades Project Halted

Law360 (November 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Opponents of a bridge project that is part of the long-delayed restoration of the Everglades gained a victory as a federal judge slapped a preliminary injunction on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, temporarily halting construction.

Judge Ursula Ungaro of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida ruled that the corps cannot begin construction of a one-mile bridge along the Tamiami Trail, a major artery running between Miami and Tampa, until its engineers perform another environmental impact statement on the project.
