Eye Care Company Says It's Not Eyeing Rival's Patent

Law360, New York (July 25, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Missouri company has filed a lawsuit against a laser eye surgery rival, asking a federal judge to rule that it is not infringing on its rival’s patent.

Synergetics USA Inc.'s subsidiary, Synergetics Inc., filed a lawsuit last week in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Missouri seeking declaratory judgment against Iridex Corp.

The conflict centers on a laser probe technology that ophthalmic surgeons attach to a laser source to deliver laser energy into patients’ eyes.
