Md. DOT Settles Pollution Suit Over Highway Project

Law360, New York (November 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Maryland Department of Transportation has agreed to fund up to $2 million in clean air projects to resolve a dispute with an environmental group over a multibillion-dollar project to build a six-lane tollway in the Washington, D.C., area.

The settlement between the Environmental Defense Fund and the Maryland State Highway Administration removes the final legal challenge to the controversial Intercounty Connector, an 18-mile highway project to connect parts of Prince George's and Montgomery counties in southern Maryland.
