Silver Mining Cos. Tagged With $2M Cleanup Bill

Law360, New York (November 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. government is taking aim on liable parties to recoup $2 million spent on cleaning up a mine site in Idaho and has launched a suit against both the silver mine’s former owner and its operator to obtain reimbursement.

The complaint, lodged Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho, claimed Shoshone Silver Mining Co. and Lakeview Consolidated Silver Mines Inc. are liable for the costs of extensive removal activities at the site in 2005.
