EPA Proposes Rules For Construction Site Pollution

Law360, New York (November 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has proposed new guidelines to control pollution stemming from construction sites in order to protect the purity of the water supply.

The proposal would require construction companies to follow erosion and sediment control best management practices in order to prevent pollutants from washing into rivers, lakes and reservoirs.

The guidelines are designed to work alongside already existing state and local regulations, the EPA said in a statement Wednesday, and would set up minimum standards that would apply to construction sites around...
