Treasury Finalizes Rules On CFIUS Reviews

Law360, New York (November 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Department of the Treasury has issued final regulations covering how the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States reviews deals for national securities concerns, where the transaction may result in foreign control of a U.S. business.

The final rules essentially implement a law passed last year in the wake of the political firestorm that erupted when Dubai Ports World — an entity owned by the United Arab Emirates — announced plans to acquire a British shipping company that ran several major U.S. ports....
