SEC Bans Former Conseco Heads From Accounting

Law360, New York (July 26, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has suspended the former chief financial officer and chief accounting officer of Conseco Finance from practicing before the Commission for five years.

The suspension, announced Wednesday, comes weeks after a judge entered a final judgment against the pair, who were accused by the SEC of lying about the earnings of Conseco and Conseco Finance from March 1999 through February 2000.
