Waxman Bumps Dingell From Energy Committee Chair

Law360, New York (November 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., a strong advocate for health care and the environment, succeeded Thursday in his bid to dethrone Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., from his longtime post as chairman of the influential U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce.

Three weeks after Waxman announced his intention to vie for the position, members of the House Democratic Party caucus voted 137-122 to replace Dingell, who has been criticized for his ties to the automobile industry.
