Murphy Oil Sued Over Refinery Emissions

Law360, New York (November 24, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Murphy Oil Corp. has reportedly been slapped with a federal lawsuit accusing it of violating the Clean Air Act for half a decade by releasing pollutants such as sulfur dioxide at rates exceeding the company's emission permits.

The lawsuit was filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana by the Concerned Citizens Around Murphy, an environmental group that formed in the wake of a massive oil spill in September 2005 at Murphy Oil's Meraux, La., refinery, the Times-Picayune reported Saturday....
