DOI Workers Punished In Ethics Scandal

Law360, New York (November 24, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Punishments have reportedly been meted out to more than half a dozen U.S. Department of Interior workers who repeatedly accepted gifts, used drugs and alcohol and had sexual relationships with oil and gas industry executives.

Eight unnamed employees of the DOI's Minerals Management Service have been subjected to disciplinary measures ranging from a letter of warning and reprimand to permanent reassignment from the agency's Royalty In Kind program, suspension without pay, demotion to a lower pay grade and termination, Reuters reported Friday.
