E.U. Eyes Online Movie Market In Competition Probe

Law360 (July 28, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission said Friday it planned to investigate obstacles to competition in the burgeoning market for online distribution of movies and games.

The E.C. is hoping to jump-start growth of the online market for digital content in the European Union. The online market for games and films amounts to €3 billion a year, and the total market of the same content is €100 billion annually, according to E.C. spokesperson Martin Selmayr.
