Despite Melamine, Infant Formula Safe: FDA

Law360, New York (December 1, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is continuing to defend the safety of top-selling brands of infant formula despite test results revealed last week that showed trace amounts of the chemical melamine in the products.

The agency said Friday that its ongoing investigation “continues to show that the domestic supply of infant formula is safe and that consumers can continue using U.S. manufactured infant formulas.”
