High Court Denies Massey's $100M Damages Appeal

Law360, New York (December 1, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court has decided not to hear Massey Energy Co.'s appeal of a $100 million punitive damages verdict against it, six months after the West Virginia Supreme Court refused unanimously to review the case, which involved a long-running contract dispute between Massey Energy and Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. and the recusal of at least one judge.
