Ky. High Court Upholds $7.8M Verdict In Parlodel Suit

Law360, New York (December 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Supreme Court of Kentucky has affirmed a jury award of $7.8 million in compensatory damages against pharmaceutical company Novartis AG in a case involving the death of a woman who was prescribed the lactation suppressant Parlodel.

In the opinion released Wednesday, the compensatory damages were divided between Sandoz Pharmaceuticals Corp., now known as Novartis, and the woman’s obstetrician, Dr. Lyman Armstrong, with Sandoz responsible for 90 percent of those damages, according to the opinion.
