Pa. House Committee Moves To Nix Oil And Gas Well Rules
Law360, Philadelphia (May 3, 2016, 11:52 AM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania House committee on Tuesday voted along partisan lines to disapprove controversial new rules governing surface operations at oil and gas wells, an early step in a challenge that may ultimately depend on overriding a veto from Gov. Tom Wolf.
By a 19 to 8 margin, the House Environmental Resources & Energy Committee advanced a resolution to halt implementation of the so-called Chapter 78 and Chapter 78a regulations, which were approved in April by the state’s Independent Regulatory Review Commission.
