Digene Wins Arbitration Ruling Over HPV License

Law360, New York (July 31, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Digene Corp., a manufacturer of genetic-testing products, said Monday that an arbitration panel found that a rival breached a cross-licensing agreement covering the sale of its human papillomavirus (HPV) business.

The panel at the International Center for Dispute Resolution of the American Arbitration Association ruled that Beckman Coulter Inc.’s sale of intellectual property to Ventana Medical Systems Inc. violated an agreement between Digene and Institute Pasteur when Beckman sold its HPV business and assets in September 2002.
