Idaho Mining Co. To Pay $85K For Mine Spill

Law360, New York (December 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Hecla Mining Co. will pay the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency $85,000 for a spill at an Idaho mine that leaked over 20,000 gallons of mine tailings into a nearby river.

Hecla, which operates several mines and mills in Idaho’s northern panhandle, agreed to settle the allegations with the EPA and signed a consent agreement with the government agency on Thursday.
