Ron Wyden, D-Ore., asked officials in Wyoming and Nevada on Tuesday to answer questions and turn over business registration files, audits and other investigatory documents for more than 1,000 companies created in those states whose names have come up in the Panama Papers leak.

Citing the threat of fraud, tax evasion and terrorist financing from anonymous shell companies, the top-ranking Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee asked the states to turn over information on more than 1,000 Nevada businesses and at least 24 Wyoming businesses linked to Mossack Fonseca, the Panamanian law firm whose records and emails were leaked to...
