WHO Calls For Stricter Melamine Limits

Law360 (December 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The World Health Organization is encouraging countries to adopt stricter standards in the regulation of melamine levels in food after the chemical's appearance in Chinese baby formula and other milk products.

In a report issued Friday, the organization said international experts have established a “tolerable” level of daily melamine intake as 0.2 milligrams per kilogram of bodyweight — or about 0.2 parts per million.
