EU States Call For Lights Out On Incandescent Bulbs

Law360, New York (December 9, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- European Union member states on Monday endorsed the European Commission's proposal to join a growing list of countries phasing out less energy-efficient incandescent light bulbs.

The EU plans to start making the change beginning next year and finish in 2012.

According to a statement issued by the European government, such a switchover would conserve roughly the electric consumption of Romania and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 15 million tons per year.
