EU Charges Toshiba, Siemens, ABB In Cartel Probe

Law360, New York (December 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The European Commission has charged a number of manufacturers of electrical transformers, reportedly including ABB Ltd., Areva SA, Toshiba Corp. and Siemens AG, with participating in a cartel.

The EC sent the companies a statement of objections accusing them of violating the EC Treaty and the Agreement on the European Economic Area, which prohibit restrictive business practices, the commission said on Thursday. It did not reveal any other details about the charges.
