2 Suits Claim Fla. HMO Underpaid Doctors By Millions

Law360, Miami (May 23, 2016, 9:17 PM EDT) -- Coventry Health Care of Florida Inc. has been hit with a pair of lawsuits in state court in Miami over claims that it has underpaid out-of-network health professionals by millions of dollars for services they provided to the insurer's HMO members.

One lawsuit, filed May 13 by a group of emergency medical group practices owned by Fort Lauderdale-based TeamHealth Inc. claims that the difference between what Coventry has reimbursed its doctors and other personnel and what state law requires has climbed to $42 million.
