ACLU Says 1st Amendment Bars $30M Landfill Libel Suit

Law360, New York (June 2, 2016, 4:33 PM EDT) -- The American Civil Liberties Union on Thursday asked an Alabama federal judge to toss a $30 million libel and slander lawsuit against residents who complained about pollution from a nearby landfill on the internet, saying the First Amendment protects their statements.
