Glaxo's Zinc-Containing Denture Cream Unsafe: Suit

Law360 (December 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A group of California consumers has accused GlaxoSmithKline PLC of selling its Super Poligrip denture adhesive cream with zinc despite its knowledge that the product poses “serious safety risks,” including neurologic disease.

Glaxo added zinc to its line of Super Poligrip products without disclosing or warning of the “significant and debilitating” hazards of zinc poisoning resulting from the ingestion of denture cream zinc, the plaintiffs said in an amended complaint filed Friday in the U.S. District for the Northern District of California.
