AOL, Canon Get Claims Over Dial-Up Patents Tossed

Law360 (December 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- In an ongoing lawsuit over Internet dial-up technology, a federal judge has dismissed patent-holding company Rembrandt Data Technologies LP's patent infringement allegations against AOL LLC and Canon USA Inc. for failure to state a claim.

Judge Gerald Bruce Lee of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia granted the companies' Rule 12 (b) motions to dismiss following a hearing on the matter Friday. As of Tuesday afternoon, he had not issued a written opinion to accompany the ruling.
