Ex-Diebold Sales Rep Gets Year In Prison

Law360, New York (December 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has sentenced former Diebold Inc. sales representative Robert G. Cole, who pled guilty to securities fraud in September, to a year and a day in prison, less than the advisory sentencing guidelines recommended.

Judge James S. Gwin of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio waxed philosophical, quoting Jeremy Bentham and Immanuel Kant, in a Dec. 11 memorandum explaining his rationale for departing from the sentencing guidelines.
