Federal-Mogul Employee Loses Bid For Invention Pay

Law360, New York (December 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has dismissed a bid by a union employee at auto parts giant Federal-Mogul Corp. to be compensated for the development of an internal industrial process to make manufacturing rod bearings more efficient.

Judge Thomas L. Luddington of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan ruled Friday that because Lance Frederick did not exhaust the grievance proceedings available to him as part of the United Auto Workers union's contract with Federal-Mogul, his case could not proceed in a federal court....
