Law360, New York (June 8, 2016, 11:41 PM EDT) -- The European Parliament’s ringing endorsement on Wednesday of legislation to fight corporate tax avoidance will be a hard sell to individual member states because of what experts say is the uncertainty created by the far-reaching legislation for multinational businesses and fears that it will make Europe a less attractive place to invest.
Although lawmakers gave the thumbs up to six key measures by an overwhelming 486-88 majority, the proposals are unlikely to get final, unanimous assent from national leaders on the European Council because of concerns that they enhance tax authorities’ ability to make subjective, broad-based assertions of the anti-abuse laws...
