Cognex, Acacia Resolve Patent Battle Over Scanner

By Liz McKenzie (December 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Cognex Corp. has agreed to settle a heated patent dispute with Acacia Research Corp., Veritec Inc. and several other companies over its product-scanning technology.

A judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota approved the joint motion to dismiss the case on Tuesday after Cognex confirmed it had reached a settlement with the defendants.

Representatives for the parties declined to elaborate on the terms of the confidential settlement.
