Lawyers Predict Bleak 2009 Of Recession, Layoffs

Law360 (December 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Laying the blame for the current recession on financial institutions, lawyers nationwide are afraid of losing their jobs and don't expect an upturn for the legal profession until 2010, a new survey has found.

Almost 20 percent of lawyers surveyed in November by the American Bar Association Law Journal said they expected to lose their jobs by the end of 2009, and 52 percent said the economy would not improve for the legal profession until 2010.
