Obama Names Financial Watchdogs

Law360, New York (December 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Naming his choices for three big regulatory posts on Thursday, President-elect Barack Obama said that financial regulatory reform would be one of his top priorities, and that he would do whatever it takes to make sure the financial system doesn't collapse.

At a press conference in Chicago, Obama nominated Mary Schapiro to be head of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Gary Gensler to lead the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and Daniel Tarullo to fill a vacant spot on the Federal Reserve Board.
