Chinese Dairies To Pay $160M To Tainted-Milk Victims

Law360, New York (December 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Chinese dairy companies allegedly responsible for producing contaminated milk products that sickened nearly 300,000 children and caused six deaths have agreed to pay 1.1 billion yuan ($160 million) to victims' families.

China’s Dairy Industry Association announced on Saturday that victims and families harmed by the massive melamine contamination this fall will receive a 1.1 billion yuan one-time payout, China’s official Xinhua News Agency reported.
