Chinese Officials Test Dishes Made With Melamine

Law360, New York (January 5, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The melamine product-safety scare has spread to tableware, and Chinese regulators are now reportedly testing the safety of plastic dishes made with the chemical.

China's top quality control office, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, told the state-run news agency Xinhua last week that it was organizing an investigation of plastic tableware containing melamine after some media reports said that the dishes could be toxic to humans when heated.
