Duke Lawyers Called On Carpet Over Paid Witness

Law360 (January 5, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has ordered attorneys representing Duke Energy Corp. to explain why they did not disclose a $200 per hour pay agreement with a defense witness during trial in a Clean Air Act case brought by the government.

According to Judge Larry J. McKinney's order in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, the lawyers must appear Jan. 13 to show why they should not be suspended immediately from practice before the court.
