Mall Owner Shifts Bankruptcy Counsel To Weil Gotshal

Law360 (January 5, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- About a month after beleaguered mall owner General Growth Properties Inc. retained bankruptcy counsel from Sidley Austin LLP, the company has changed its primary representation to Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP as it struggles to renegotiate billions of dollars in debt.

On Monday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the Chicago-based real estate investment trust gave Sidley Austin the boot and hired Weil Gotshal as primary bankruptcy counsel and Kirkland & Ellis LLP as counsel to some of its subsidiaries.
