Obama Expected To Keep Bair As Head Of FDIC

Law360, New York (January 7, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- As his cabinet continues to takes shape less than two weeks from his inauguration, President-elect Barack Obama is expected to keep U.S. Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Chairwoman Sheila C. Bair in her post, Democratic officials said Wednesday.

Credited with a number of measures designed to restore confidence in the nation's banking system, Bair, a Republican whose term is set to expire in 2011, had said she would resign her post if the Obama administration asked her to, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.
