Health Exec Eyes Generic Plavix On The Horizon

Law360 (August 4, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A top health executive stunned analysts with a controversial statement Friday that a generic version of Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. and Sanofi-Aventis’ blockbuster blood-thinner Plavix may hit the U.S. market as soon as this month.

Medco Health Solutions Inc. CEO David Snow told analysts during a conference call: “We are now forecasting that the generic form of Plavix, a blockbuster drug with U.S. [sales] of nearly $2.7 billion, will become available in 2006."
