Neb. Bill Aims To Link Tax Cuts, Immigration Law

Law360 (January 8, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- In a move that would force businesses in Nebraska to shoulder some of the burden of curbing illegal immigration, a state lawmaker has proposed a bill that would prohibit businesses that violate federal immigration law from partaking in a multimillion-dollar tax benefits package meant to entice employers to the state.

State Sen. Gwen Howard of Nebraska’s Ninth District introduced the bill Thursday, a day after the state legislature convened for the 2009 session.
